Visit Korea Committee Successfully Completes Business Presentation in Vietnam Promoting Korea’s All-in-One Festivals

- The Visit Korea Committee held a business presentation on August 23 for Korea Sale FESTA and Korea Grand Sale

- Strong local interest shown in convenience services for free independent travelers and in benefits for foreign tourists provided by the committee’s partners

The Visit Korea Committee (chaired by Park Sam-koo) held a business presentation at the Lotte Hotel Hanoi in Vietnam on the evening of August 23 to promote Korea’s all-in-one festivals for shopping, culture, and sightseeing.

A total of 110 people attended the event, including Visit Korea Committee Secretary-General Han Kyung-ah and officials from the Korean hotel and airline industries, as well as Ha Noi Department of Tourism Deputy Director Dang Huong Giang and other officials from Vietnamese tourism authorities, travel agencies, and media.

* Main Participants from S. Korea:
Han Kyung-ah, Secretary-General, Visit Korea Committee; Jung Chang-wook, Director, Korea Tourism Organization Hanoi Office; Lee Dong-min, Director, Korean Air Hanoi Office; Lee Sang-hoon, Director, Asiana Airlines Hanoi Office; Kim Dong-soon, Director, Jeju Air Hanoi Office; Kim Hong-gu, Director, Jin Air Hanoi Office; Song Se-hoon, Director, Eastar Jet Hanoi Office
* Main Participants from Vietnam:
Dang Huong Giang, Deputy Director, Ha Noi Department of Tourism; Vu Tien Dat, Vice President, TransViet, a local travel agency in Vietnam, etc.

The Visit Korea Committee in the day’s event introduced to participants the benefits of the Korea Sale FESTA, which will last a month beginning September 28, and of the Korea Grand Sale, which is scheduled between January and February, over the period of the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Winter Games. The committee’ convenience services for foreign tourists generated especially strong interest among local officials: These included the KOREA TOUR CARD, a tourist travel pass exclusively for foreigners, and the Hands-Free Service, a baggage storage and delivery service.

Participants welcomed the fact that, with a single card, it is possible to pay for bus, subway, and taxi services throughout Korea and to get a wealth of benefits from 128 partners and over 2,000 stores, which led to many inquiries about purchases. They agreed that the Hands-Free Service, which allows tourists to send their baggage in advance from their hotel to the airport or to store it at a subway station or airport, is particularly indispensable for free independent travelers in Korea.

“October is a time of great interest in Korea tour packages among Vietnamese people thanks to the beautiful fall foliage in Korea, so, with the Korea Sale FESTA, there will be a rush of people booking trips,” predicted Vu Tien Dat, a vice president at TransViet, a leading local travel agency.

“Over 177,000 Vietnamese tourists have visited Korea until July, showing a high growth trend of 29%,” said Han Kyung-ah, the secretary-general of the Visit Korea Committee, which hosted the event. “Local interest in the Korea Sale FESTA and Korea Grand Sale is high, so, with this business presentation, we expect more Vietnamese tourists to visit Korea.”

“This year is the 25th anniversary of South Korea–Vietnam diplomatic relations, and the simplification of procedures for issuing visitor/tourist visas and expansion of eligibility for multiple-entry visas that began on July 10 will also lead to an increase in the number of tourists visiting Korea,” predicted Jung Chang-wook, the director of Korea Tourism Organization Hanoi Office.

The Visit Korea Committee also held a business presentation in Taiwan in June, promoting these all-in-one festivals. Following the event in Vietnam, the committee plans to continue holding briefings promoting the all-in-one festivals and the KOREA TOUR CARD in Korea’s major inbound tourism markets, including China, Japan, and Indonesia.
